Measurement of Detonation Properties for Mining Explosives
STX has access to a blasting range to conduct detonation tests on mining explosives, from velocity of detonation to detonator timing and high-speed camera capture.
Tests we conduct at the blasting range
- Velocity of detonation (VOD) with continuous instruments (ShotTrack, Microtrap) or point-to-point meters (Utam Blastech, VODEX 20000).
- Critical diameter and critical density of gassed mining explosives.
- Detonator timing (chronograph or high-speed camera method).
- Overblast pressure using PCB pencils.
- Detonation pressure using carbon resistor sensors.
- High-speed camera, 1,000 to 2,000,000 frames per second, for fast and extremely fast detonation events.
- Booster and detonating cord testing.
